ABOUT Alexandria Anderson

Alexandria won gold with USA at the 2011 World Championships and two years later finished seventh individually in the 100m at the same level. After a decade in world-class sprinting which has included a 10.91 100m PB, she continues to challenge the best, setting a lifetime best of 22.58 for 200m in 2017.

She competed at three straight World Championships in the relay for USA from 2009-13 and in the medley relay won gold at the 2003 World Youth Championships. Other highlights of her long career include a US indoor 60m title in 2011 and a world junior relay gold in 2006.

Alexandria is a very rounded person, too, with a tremendous focus on her athletics career in the immediate terms but she also has interests and plans away from the track when her competitive career is over.

Hobbies: I love movies. I am such a movie buff. I also love to dance. Recently I have been getting into decorating whether it’s interior or crafting, watching as much HGTV as possible (lol). I also enjoy doing volunteer work with younger children and speaking to them about track, sports and living a healthy life.

Interesting Facts:I am one of four siblings. I am the second oldest and the oldest girl. Ever since I was in high school I have had a passion for fashion. I would sketch clothing, read multiple magazines and those are still things I do to this day. I would love to get involved in the Fashion Industry, whether it is through designing, modelling or a little bit of both. Originally I wanted to be a plastic surgeon when I grew up but I decided to change my career path during college. I have been running track since I was 6 years old, starting in the Chicago Park District at Jesse Owens Park on the south side of Chicago.

Greatest Achievements: I am the state of Illinois record holder in the 100, 200, 400 and long jump breaking the great Jackie Joyner Kerse’s high school long jump record. I am a 2009 NCAA 100m Champion. 2011 US Indoor 60m Champion and 4x100m World Champion in 2011.

Long Term Goal: To be a multiple Olympian gold medallist. To own my own Advertising/ PR firm once I am done running.
