ABOUT Beth Potter

The Rio Olympian, who will also compete for Britain at this year’s World Championships over 10,000m, is making a positive early impression in the triathlon too.

After setting her PB of 32:03.35 and qualifying to represent GB over 25 laps in the 2016 Games, she guaranteed her spot in London 2017 by winning at her trials in May. This was despite lowering her running mileage as she ups her cycling and swimming training as she focuses this year on the three-discipline sport.

Formerly an accomplished swimmer, she has relocated to GB’s national centre for triathlon to fulfil a long-held ambition to give that sport a go. Making her debut only this summer, in Cardiff in June she won her first triathlon.

However, it was in athletics that the Scot made her name. She raced at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and has competed at the World Cross and European Cross.
