ABOUT Elliot Levi Giles

Elliot is one of Britain’s top middle-distance runners, having won the British Championships 800m for the last two years and picking up bronze at the Europeans.

A promising junior, he then struggled with injuries for a years and was involved in a serious motorbike accident in 2014 that left him with temporary brain damage. In 2015 the fully recovered Birchfield Harrier made noticeable improvements, but truly caught the eye the following season when winning the national under-23 title. He went on to win the senior version and confirm his status as a championship performer in finishing third at the Europeans in Amsterdam with a PB 1:45.54. He also earned a spot on the Olympic team and, despite failing to come out of his heat, will have gained valuable experience in Rio.

He defended his British title in 2017 with victory over a field which included London 2012 finalist Andrew Osagie and European junior champion Kyle Langford. A PB and qualifying time of 1:44.99 the following week in the London Diamond League secured him selection for the World Championships.

At the Worlds he qualified through the heats to make the semi-finals where he finished sixth. Just three days later he was back in action setting a PB over 1500m of 3:42.50.
