ABOUT Marvin Bracy

Marvin Bracy is a former American football wide receiver for the Florida State Seminoles. Having already competed for US in the relay at the 2010 World Juniors, he left the Seminole football team just prior to their 2013 national championship season to pursue a professional career in track.

The new focus had an immediate effect. He ran 6.48 for the 60m to win gold at the 2014 US indoor championships and move inside the world all-time top 30. He went on to World Indoor silver and later in the year clock a 100m PB of 10.08.

In 2015 he successfully defended his national 60m dash title and set a PB of 9.93 for 100m when winning at the Birmingham Diamond League. However, at the 2015 outdoor trials he made it through his heat with a marginally wind-illegal 9.93 but, suffering a hamstring problem, could not start his semi-final.

He won a third successive US indoor 60m title in 2016 and wound up seventh at the World Indoors. He followed up in the summer with a 9.94 100m and third at the US trials, gaining a place in the Olympic team. In Rio he reached the semi-final.

Early season in 2017 he competed for US at the IAAF World Relays, but surgery meant he didn’t make the US Championships.
