ABOUT Reece Prescod

Reece Prescod is the 2017 British 100m champion and secured his place on the team for the IAAF World Championships with a season’s best of 10.09 in that final.

The Nike-sponsored athlete enjoyed a massive breakthrough in 2016 when he improved his 100m PB from 10.73 to 10.04, although he had previously been better at 200m, with a 20.70 in 2015. That latter time put him second on the UK under-20 rankings for the year and, together with two English junior gold medals in 2013, showed his immense promise.

In 2016 he clocked a PB 10.04 in one of his only two 100m races that season and won bronze at the British Championships over 200m.

More was to come at the 2017 championships, though, as he upstaged bigger names such as James Dasaolu and Harry Aikines-Aryeetey to cement his London 2017 berth. In the capital he took a hundredth off his best in the heats with 10.03 and then a 10.05 in the semi-final qualified him for the final. He went on to finish seventh with 10.17.
