Melissa claimed a superb bronze medal.

Running a well executed race Mellissa maintained her focus throughout the race and stay intention with front runners Caster Semenya of South Africa and Beatice Chepkoech Kenya

Mellissa was able to battle ahead of Australian pair Linden Hall and Georgia Griffith for bronze on her Commonwealth Games debut after an impressive final lap with a personal best 4:03.44.

Now with plans to double up on the Gold Coast the next race will be over 5000m, which she admitted she thought was going to be the stronger of her two events.  Mellissa quoted

“Originally I had in my head I wanted to finish in the top six of the 5km and make the final in the 1500m, I don’t really know now what to expect now I’m excited still for the 5km because I feel I’m in really good 5km shape and I really want to prove it”.
All the best Mellissa, we are all looking  forward to watching the 5000m.
